Anti-inflammatory eating fails when it’s framed as a list of forbidden foods and $9 powders. Here’s a week that uses normal groceries and repeats on purpose — repetition is what makes it stick.
The daily template
- Breakfast: oatmeal with berries, walnuts, and cinnamon — or Greek yogurt with the same toppings.
- Lunch: a big salad or grain bowl: leafy greens or quinoa + a protein (salmon, chickpeas, chicken) + olive-oil dressing.
- Dinner: a protein + two vegetables + a whole-food carb, cooked in olive oil with garlic, ginger, or turmeric somewhere.
- Snacks: fruit, a small handful of nuts, or vegetables with hummus.
- Drinks: water, green tea, coffee; keep sugary drinks for occasions.
The week, sketched
Mon: salmon, roasted broccoli, sweet potato. Tue: lentil soup with spinach, whole-grain bread. Wed: chicken-and-vegetable stir-fry with ginger, brown rice. Thu: chickpea and vegetable curry with turmeric. Fri: sardines or tuna on a big Mediterranean salad. Sat: turkey or bean chili loaded with tomatoes and peppers. Sun: eggs with sautéed greens, avocado, whole-grain toast.
Why this works
Every day quietly hits the levers with the best evidence: omega-3s twice a week, olive oil as the default fat, 25+ grams of fiber, deeply colored produce, spices, and very little refined sugar. Nothing is banned — the pattern simply leaves less room for the foods that push the other way.
Make it survivable
Cook double dinners for leftovers, keep frozen vegetables and canned fish stocked, and treat one meal a week as fully off-plan. Consistency over months beats perfection over days.
